Emptying the Gene Pool
Here’s a group of people that should be forcefully and quickly removed from the gene pool. If we are to progress as a society then we must do so without those who are evil, ignorant, or both.
Some salient points from this article include:
A federal jury in Baltimore, Maryland, Wednesday awarded $10.9 million to a father of a Marine whose funeral was picketed by members of a fundamentalist church carrying signs blaming soldiers’ deaths on America’s tolerance of homosexuals.
Church members showed up at Snyder’s funeral chanting derogatory slogans and holding picket signs with messages including “God Hates Fags.”
“This will elevate me to something important,” Phelps [Church Leader] told reporters. “This was an act of futility.”
Phelps and his followers also picketed the February 2006 funeral of Coretta Scott King, widow of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., because of her support for gay rights.
These people are just chock-full of hatred, ignorance, and evil. We can only hope karma or nature will deal with them appropriately.
A Burden Lifted
I’m not sure how I came to believe that Freebird’s was founded in Austin,TX. For years, I was guilt-ridden for choosing Chipotle, a national chain, over what I thought was a home-grown business. Today, however, after a visit to the Freebird’s website, I learned that the first Freebird’s franchise opened in 1987 in Santa Barbara, CA. The first Austin franchise didn’t open until 1999, and was preceded by two franchises in College Station.
Now, I can get my burritos from Chipotle without feeling like I’m betraying Austin. As an added plus, McDonald’s sold off its stake in Chipotle at the end of 2006, so my conscience is completely free to worry about something new.
